March: Start Your Second Act Without Overwhelming Your Life
Last March, I stood in my closet holding clothes I hadn’t worn in years.
I look at them and think, I will be more intentional about wearing each piece.
It rarely happens.
I probably only wear 40% of my clothes regularly.
I remember thinking, why is it so hard to let go of things that no longer fit the season we’re in?
I’m not just talking about clothes.
What about our old goals, roles, and expectations?
Even dreams we’ve outgrown.
If you’re in midlife and quietly thinking, “There has to be something more for me,” I want you to hear this:
You don’t need to blow up your life.
You don’t need a five-year plan.
You don’t need to have it all figured out.
You just need one clear shelf.
Here’s what I mean.
When my house feels overwhelming, I don’t deep-clean the whole thing.
I clear one drawer, then one counter, and finally one small space.
I feel clearer or even freer when I take action.
The same works for your second act.
Instead of asking:
“What is my purpose?”
“What business should I start?”
“What am I meant to do next?”
Try asking:
“What is one small thing I can clear, simplify, or explore this month?”
Maybe it’s:
• Blocking one hour a week to think and dream
• Cleaning out your email inbox so your mind feels lighter
• Starting a notes page of ideas you’ve been dismissing
• Saying no to something that drains you
What I didn’t share in my recent blog post is this:
Most pivots begin with a gentle reclaiming of space. That can mean physical, mental, and emotional space.
March is perfect for that.
We’re in that in-between season. Not quite spring. Not quite winter. It’s the month of reset and redirection.
If you’re ready to move from “someday” to “maybe this year,” here are a few pieces of content I think will support you:
