Second Act Simplified Intro: Midlife Confidence & Change

Discover practical tips and inspiring stories for women in midlife ready to simplify, reinvent, and step confidently into their next chapter.

I have been planning this podcast for months.

If I’m honest, I have been dragging my feet when it comes to actually hitting record. There is always an excuse, waiting for the perfect setup, the right equipment, the right moment. But today, with my husband traveling and the house quiet, I realized there was no reason to wait any longer.

So, I just did it. I pressed record.

Starting Before You Feel Ready

Here’s the thing: starting is rarely comfortable. Whether it is launching a podcast, beginning a side hustle, or trying a new hobby, that first step always feels messy. You second-guess yourself. You worry about how it will sound or look a year from now.

And you know what? I’m sure I will cringe listening back to this first episode a year from now. However, I also know that, just like with my blog, the only way to grow is to start.

We all want to skip to the polished, confident version of ourselves. But the truth is, you only get there by stumbling through those first awkward attempts.

Why I’m Excited Anyway

Recording this first episode was not perfect, and it doesn’t need to be. I’m excited because it marks the start of something I have wanted to create for a long time.

The Second Act Simplified podcast is about midlife as a launchpad, not a slowdown. It is about talking openly about career pivots, side hustles, simplifying everyday life, and navigating seasons and holidays with less stress.

But more than that, it is about encouraging women, myself included, to start before everything feels perfect.

The Lesson I Want to Share

If there is something you have been sitting on, whether it is an idea, a dream, or a project you have been telling yourself you will “start someday,” maybe today is the day you just do it.

Don’t wait for perfect. Don’t wait until you have figured it all out.

Because the only way to improve, become stronger, and gain confidence is to take the first step.

Come Along With Me

This is just the beginning. The podcast will dive deeper into what it looks like to build your second act with short, no-fluff episodes that you can listen to on your busiest days.

And if you want to take things further, I have created the Second Act Simplified Membership, a community where we can plan, reset, and take action together. You can check it out here.

So here we go, imperfect but in motion. Because starting is the first step to everything else.

Recording My First Podcast Episode

Jaime

I’m Jaime, founder of Our Daily Lifestyles and host of the Second Act Simplified podcast. After more than 20 years in the supply chain industry, I understand what it is like to balance a demanding career, family responsibilities, and the desire to create something meaningful of your own. I also serve as an Advisor for the Ashland University Women in Leadership Executive Program, where I support women as they grow into stronger and more confident leaders.

I first discovered my love of blogging during the early rise of social media. After stepping away to focus on my career and family, I returned to writing with a clearer sense of purpose. Today, I share honest conversations, practical ideas, and real-life experiences for women who want to make the most of midlife and explore what could come next.

I’m part of a busy blended family, a mother, a grandmother of two, and a lifelong believer that life can keep getting more interesting as we get older. Here you will find stories and inspiration about travel, gardening, home projects, family life, personal growth, and creating a next chapter that feels like your own.
